Champaran Chicken Recipe

Ingredients

 For Marination:

- 1 kg chicken

- 2 tbsp ginger and garlic paste

- 3 tbsp lemon juice

- 2 bay leaves

- 4 green chilies, finely chopped

- 2 garlic bulbs

- 1/4 cup mustard oil

- 1 tsp crushed black pepper

- 1 & 1/2 tsp chicken powder

- 2 tsp cumin powder

- 1 tbsp coriander powder

- 1 tsp garam masala powder

- 1 & 1/2 tsp red chili powder

- 1 tsp salt

- 7 green cardamom pods

- 8 cloves

- 1 cinnamon stick

- 12 black peppercorns

- 9 dry red chilies

- 2 black cardamom pods

- 4 tbsp yogurt

 Other Ingredients:

- 2 large onions (ground into a paste)

- 3/4 cup mustard oil

  1. 1. In a mixing bowl, combine the chicken and all the marination ingredients. Mix thoroughly and let it marinate for 1 and 1/2 hours.

     2. Heat 3/4 cup of mustard oil in a pan. Add the ground onion paste and sauté on high heat until it turns golden brown.

     3. Add the marinated chicken mixture and cook on high heat until the colour of the chicken changes. Then, reduce the heat to low, cover, and cook until the chicken is tender and the oil separates.

     4. Serve hot with boiled rice, roti, or paratha.
