For Cake:
1: salted butter 170g
2: water 1 cup
3: unsweetened cocoa powder 4 tbsp
4: plain flour 2 & 1/8 cup
5: sugar 2 cups
6: eggs 2
7: Butter Milk 1/2 cup or (use yogurt 1/2 cup)
8: baking soda 1 tsp
9: vanilla essences 2 tsp
For Frosting:
1: salted butter 113g
2: milk 6 tbsp
3: unsweetened cocoa powder 5 tsp
4: powder sugar 3 cups
5: vanilla essences 2 tsp
6: walnuts 1 cup chopped
Preheat Oven: To 350f, 180c, Gas Mark 4. (i use 250ml Measuring Cup)
1: spray a sheet cake pan, about 12 X 18 X 2, with oil and keep aside.
2: in a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar.
3: place butter, water, and cocoa in a saucepan and heat just until butter is melted, stirring until smooth and keep aside.
4: in a bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, soda and vanilla.
5: now add the cocoa mixture into the flour mixture until combined and also pour the egg mixture into the flour and stir until very smooth and well-combined.
6: pour batter into greased pan & place in oven and bake for 19 to 20 minutes.
7: in a saucepan over medium heat, stir together the butter and milk, vanilla essences, cocoa powder until butter is melted and then add confectioners sugar and cook until smooth and begins to bubble. 8: take off the heat and stir in walnuts, mix well.
9: poke holes on the cake and pour hot frosting evenly over hot cake. Let cool before cutting.
10:serve with tea, coffee or a glass of cold milk.
