- 2 sheets of ready-made puff pastry (375g each)
- 1/3 cup tomato puree
- 20 slices of chicken
- 2 cups cheddar cheese (adjust as per preference)
- 1 teaspoon crushed red chilli (heaped)
- 1 teaspoon oregano (heaped)
- 1 tablespoon fresh coriander
- 1 egg (beaten)
1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (gas mark 7) according to the instructions on the puff pastry packaging.
2. Unroll the puff pastry sheets.
3. Spread tomato puree evenly over the pastry.
4. Arrange chicken slices over the tomato puree.
5. Sprinkle cheddar cheese evenly on top.
6. Sprinkle crushed red chilli and oregano over the cheese.
7. Add fresh coriander leaves on top.
8. Place the other puff pastry sheet on top and press gently.
9. Brush the top pastry sheet with beaten egg.
10. Cut the pastry in half lengthwise and then crosswise into strips, as shown in the video.
11. Place one piece of stuffed puff pastry over the other and press firmly with a skewer.
12. Twist each pastry strip and place them on a baking tray.
13. Brush the twists with beaten egg and sprinkle with oregano and crushed red chilli.
14. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden and crisp.
15. Serve hot with tea, coffee, or juices.
