Ingerdients:
1: Masoor dal/lentils 1/2 kg
2: 1/2 cup of oil
3: Milk 1 large glass
4: Tomatoes 2 medium sized chopped
5: Onion 1 large
6: Green chilli 5 to 6 chopped
7: Garlic 5 to 6 cloves chopped
8: Turmeric powder 1tsp
9: Cumin seeds 1 tsp
10: Red chilli powder 1 1/2 tsp
11: Salt 2tsp
12: Fresh coriander 1 hand full
13: All spices 1 1/2tsp
14: Glasses of water 7 to 8
Recipe:
1: Wash the dal/lentils and strain the water out. In a pressure cooker, add the washed dal/lentils, onions, tomatoes, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric and water.
2: Mix well and cover the pressure cooker with its lid cook on high flame. Wait till the whistle starts moving, once it starts moving, time it for 15 minutes from then turn the stove off, remove the whistle, wait for the steam to settle down and then open the lid.
3: It depends what type of consistency you prefer. If you want it to be thick, cook more and if you want it to be watery then cook less.
4: Add the milk and mix well. Cook it for further 5 minutes.
5: In a frying pan, add half a cup of oil, add garlic and cumin seeds and fry till golden. Once golden, add the green chillies and a hand full of fresh coriander and then add it to the dal/lentils and 1 1/2 tsp of all spices and mix well. Serve hot.
