1: chana daal 2 cups (soaked in water over night)
2: karela 1kg (bitter gourd)
3: onion 1 (finely chopped)
4: tomatoes 3 (finely chopped)
5: ginger & garlic paste 1 tbs
6: green chilli 4 (chopped)
7: onions 4 medium (sliced)
8: fenugreek leaves 2 tbs
9: garam masala powder 1/2 tsp
10:salt 1 tsp
11:red chilli powder 1 tsp
12:turmeric 1/2 tsp
13:cumin seeds 1 tbs
14:chicken cube 1
15:oil, 1/2 cup
1: peel, deseed the karela (bitter gourd) add salt 1 tbs heaped and mix well, leave it for 10 to 15 minutes, wash well and squeeze the water and keep aside.
2: heat oil add cumin seeds, onions, ginger & garlic paste and fry till gets light golden.
3: now add the tomatoes, salt, turmeric, red chilli, fenugreek leaves, chicken cube, water 1/2 cup mix and cook on high flame till the oil comes on the surface.
4: add the chana daal, water 1 large glass mix and wait for a boil on high flame then lower the flame to low to medium cover and cook till the water dries.
5: then fry the karelay (bitter gourd) and onions.
6: add the fried karelay (bitter gourd), onions, green chilli, garam masala mix and simmer for 5 minutes.
7: serve hot with roti.
