Baklava Recipe
Ingerdients:
- walnuts 125 g
- pistachios 125 g
- almonds 125 g
- pistachios 1tbs (grind it for garnishing)
- cinnamon powder 1 ts
- sugar 1/4 cup
- filo pastry 25 sheets
- butter 250 g (melted for brushing the pastry)
- baking tray (greased)
Syrup:
- water 4 cups
- sugar 2 cups
- lemon juice 2 tbs
- honey 1/4 cup
- rose water 4 tbs
Recipe:
- grind all the nuts, then add sugar, cinnamon powder and mix well and keep aside.
- grind the pistachios 2tbs for garnishing and keep aside.
- in a pan make the syrup, add water, sugar & rose water, lemon juice and bring to a boil, then add the honey & mix well and cook on low flame for 20 minutes make sure the suryp is thick & keep aside.
- grease the baking tray place one sheet in it and butter it well, keep adding the sheets one by one and buttering them, you well need 10 sheets at the bottom.
- then spread the grinded nuts half of it and spread it evenly.
- now again start layering with the filo pastry not forgetting to butter each layer, you will need 5 sheets.
- spread the remaining nuts and spread it evenly.
- now the last layering buttering each layer again, you will need 10 sheets, if u have extra sheet on the sides of the baking tray you can cut it to make it neat.
- then cut it in the shape u like, preheat the oven and bake it on 200c, gas mark 6, 400 f, for 30 to 40 minutes.
- once baked take it out from the ovenand add the syrup on the baklava and in the cuts and let it cool down completely for about 4 to 5 hours and garnish it with the grinded pistachios and serve.
