- 1 kg onions, sliced and separated into layers
- 1 & 1/2 tsp salt
- 6 green chillies, chopped
- 1 & 1/2 tsp ginger, finely chopped
- 1 tsp crushed red chilli
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 2 tsp coriander seeds, crushed
- 1 tsp carom seeds
- 5 tbsp rice flour or corn flour
- 1 cup gram flour
- Handful of coriander leaves
1. In a bowl, add onions and salt. Mix well and squeeze the onions to release their liquid.
2. Add green chillies, ginger, crushed red chilli, turmeric, red chilli powder, crushed coriander seeds, and carom seeds. Mix thoroughly.
3. Add rice flour, gram flour, and mix until combined. The mixture should be squeezed and mixed well.
4. Gradually add water while mixing until the batter reaches a thick consistency (neither too thin nor too thick).
5. Add coriander leaves and mix.
6. Heat oil in a pan.
7. Cut bread slices and spread the onion mixture evenly on each slice.
8. Fry the bread slices in hot oil until they turn golden brown. Remove and drain excess oil on a paper towel.
9. Serve hot with your choice of sauce.
