Discover the tantalizing flavors of Afghani Chicken Karahi, a mouthwatering and aromatic dish featuring tender chicken pieces simmered in a rich blend of traditional Afghan spices.
1. 1/2 cup of oil
2. 1 kg of chicken
3. 2 tbsp of ginger and garlic paste
4. 1-inch piece of ginger, julienned
5. 4 sliced bullet green chilies
6. 5 large tomatoes, ground into a paste
7. 1 heaped tsp of garam masala powder
8. 1 1/2 tsp of black pepper powder
9. 1 1/2 tsp of salt
10. 1 cup of yogurt (at room temperature)
11. A handful of fresh coriander leaves
1. Heat 1/2 cup of oil in a pan, then add the chicken and fry on high heat until it changes color.
2. Add the ginger and garlic paste and fry along with the chicken for 2 minutes on high heat.
3. Next, add the julienned ginger, sliced green chilies, and ground tomatoes. Mix well and cook on high heat for 6 minutes.
4. Now, add the garam masala powder, black pepper powder, salt, and yogurt. Mix thoroughly, cover, and cook on low to medium heat until the chicken becomes tender and the oil separates.
5. Stir in the fresh coriander leaves.
6. Garnish with some julienned ginger and green chilies.
7. Serve hot with naan or roti.
